U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit -

On July 31st, President Barack Obama announced plans to launch the Steering Group on Africa Trade and Investment Capacity Building in conjunction with the start of the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit. The Steering Group, which will be comprised of members from at least 17 federal agencies and organizations, will have 180 days to determine goals, benchmarks, and overall recommendations to bolster trade relations between the U.S. and Africa. The Steering Group will also be asked to develop recommendations for the reauthorization of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA).
