Libya -

On June 18th, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations (U.N.) Samantha Power reported on the U.S. action to capture Ahmed Abu Khattalah in a letter to the President of the U.N. Security Council, Vitaly Churkin. Ambassador Power explained that Khattalah would face trial in the U.S. Federal Court system. She also justified the U.S. action as in accordance with the U.S.’s inherent right to self-defense.
