  • New York AG Letitia James has reached an agreement with online travel agency, Fareportal, Inc., regarding an alleged array of deceptive online marketing practices in violation of New York State’s Executive and General Business Laws.
  • The Assurance of Discontinuance details a number of misleading representations to consumers made by online brands Fareportal operated, including CheapOAir.com and OneTravel.com, to create a false urgency around availability in order to pressure customers into making purchases on its platforms, including falsely advertising that airline tickets or hotels rooms were quickly selling out or selling at a particular price.
  • The settlement requires Fareportal to pay $2.6 million in disgorgement and costs to the State, and to display accurate, real-time information to consumers.
