  • A bipartisan coalition of 26 AGs sent comments to the FCC in response to its Notice of Inquiry that requested input on the implications of artificial intelligence technologies on the Commission’s efforts to protect consumers under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).
  • In the comment letter, the AGs argue that AI that generates a human voice should be considered an “artificial voice” for purposes of the TCPA, which prohibits artificial voice messages.
  • The AGs urge the FCC to ensure that telemarketers utilizing AI follow the TCPA’s requirements, including obtaining prior written consent from consumers.
