The Draft Anti Counterfeit Policy is the first attempt by East Africa Community members to come up with a joint/multilateral framework to fight the growing challenge of illicit trade and counterfeits. It is estimated that counterfeits alone cost the East African governments over US$ 500 million in lost tax revenue annually.
