The Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment – Division of Environmental Quality (“DEQ”) has issued a new edition (January 2020) of its quarterly newsletter.
DEQ describes the newsletter as providing:
. . . a brief exposition of news and updates that are important to you, our regulated community.
The topics addressed by the newsletter include:
- Submission deadline of 2020 Annual Reports which include all Class I landfills and solid waste processing facilities (due March 31, 2020)
- Referencing Chapter 14 of Arkansas Pollution Control and Ecology Commission Regulation No. 22, it is noted that in order for DEQ to approve changes or new financial assurance mechanisms, the original mechanisms (as opposed to a copy) must be submitted to the agency
- A simplified operator licensing application is referenced and a link provided
- A link to the 2020 solid waste course schedule for the Licensing Program is provided
- DEQ references future hosting of several stakeholder meetings to discuss proposed changes to legislation regarding Solid Waste Licensing
- DEQ is stated to be presenting legislative changes regarding Solid Waste Licensing during the 2020 Annual Solid Waste Conference sponsored by the Arkansas Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America
- Describing Sebastian County Regional Solid Waste Management District’s partnership with Davis Iron & Metal in the Districts Recycling Program
