Everywhere in the Dallas Barrio, you can find ads and pamphlets about noatarios - fake attorneys who prey on unsuspecting immigrants. In many Latin American countries, the term "notario" represents a person who is accredited or licensed by a government agency. There are ways to avoid a notarios: Ask to see a legal license, don't pay for a referral, and insist on a written contract.
