The nonprofit Consumer Watchdog group filed its brief in opposition to the Google Books Proposed Settlement Agreement on September 7, 2009. Consumer Watchdog argues that the Proposed Settlement is anticompetitive and violates both U.S. and international law, stripping absent class-members of their copyrights for the sole benefit of Google. Consumer Watchdog also criticizes the privacy policy and protections implemented by the Proposed Settlement.
