So far, more than $9.5 billion has been paid out to compensate Gulf Coast residents and businesses for the losses suffered from the April 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill. With the claims process reopened and a new settlement and claims procedure, it is important to discover if you are you eligible for compensation.
Consider the losses if you owned a restaurant, hotel or resort when the Gulf Coast was essentially closed for months. Even restaurants and hotels miles away from the coast might qualify for compensation from the BP settlement funds. Are you engaged in any aspect of the tourist trade? You, too, might be eligible. Is your business connected directly or indirectly to the seafood industry, commercial or sport fishing? Is your business located on a route to the coastline, where you might have lost income because of the closure of these lush tourist destinations?
Under the new claims procedures, business owners do not have to prove that BP was directly responsible for loss of income after the oil spill. That your business was located within a specific zone and that you lost income are all that matters.
Just complete our BP Oil Spill Overview Worksheet and send it to our office via email, fax or mail. We can let you know in a day or two if you have a claim. If you do, we take care of all the rest and you could be receiving payment within 60–90 days from the time we submit your claim.
This isn’t a handout. This is justice.
