For more than two centuries in this country, women have received less pay for the same work performed by men. Women’s rights lawyers in California celebrated the 2009 signing of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act by President Obama paving the way for lawsuits to bring equal pay for women. Unfortunately, few have heard of the Act or know of the great advantages it offers a women’s rights lawyer to protect the rights of women. This article examines the Act and how it can assist employment lawyers in California.
