A commercial driver was killed Monday morning when the truck he was driving collided with an ADT Alarm System van. The fatal accident occurred at 10:38 a.m. at the intersection of Slaughter Road and Alabama Highway 20, which is just outside the Redstone Arsenal complex.
According to police, the 30-year-old man was driving a 1989 Nissan commercial truck for Shepard Signs & Graphics of Huntsville at the time of the wreck. He was carrying a 22-year-old passenger in the truck.
As the truck reached the intersection of Slaughter Road and the Huntsville Decatur Highway, his truck collided with a commercial van operated by ADT Alarm Systems. The cause of the truck accident is not yet known, and the progression of events is still under investigation.
The 30-year-old driver of the truck was transported to Huntsville Hospital shortly after the crash. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
