Do I need an attorney if I already have a real estate broker?
If you already have a real estate broker, you should still hire a lawyer to protect your interests. There are many things that can go wrong on a real estate deal that it is in your best interests to hire an attorney to help you with a transaction. A real estate broker or agent cannot legally provide you with legal advice, and usually will not get paid unless the deal closes. An attorney will be in a better position to provide you with essential legal advice and to do so with more impartiality than may be the case with your real estate agent or broker. It is even more important that you hire an attorney prior to executing a listing agreement or purchase contract so that the attorney can review such agreements to ensure that your interests are adequately protected.
