recent article in the Daily Business Review by CREW-Miami (Commercial Real Estate Women) president Maria Juncadella highlights the strides that women have made in the commercial real estate industry, a sector that was traditionally dominated by men.

For instance, Maria points out that women are entering commercial real estate at a faster pace than they were five years ago – 43 percent today, compared to 36 percent in 2005. In South Florida, women have played a leading role in some of the region’s biggest real estate deals. A 150,000 square foot lease secured in Doral on behalf of The Miami Herald, a $50 million refinance of the Grand Beach Hotel, and the 25,000 square foot lease at 1450 Brickell in Miami on behalf of Berger Singerman all involved women who are members of CREW-Miami.

For more than five years, Bilzin Sumberg has been – and continues to be – a proud premier sponsor of CREW-Miami. As past president of CREW-Miami, I am pleased to congratulate the association on its 25th anniversary of providing educational, networking and business opportunities to commercial real estate professionals – both women and men alike.
