Debtors' Response to U.S. Trustee's Motion to Dismiss Appeal

Series of court filings from In re Balas & Morales, the California case in which twenty bankruptcy judges jointly signed an opinion striking down the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) as unconstitutional to the extent it barred lawfully married same-sex couples from filing joint bankruptcy petitions.

This is the debtors' response to the U.S. Trustee's motion to dismiss the appeal. In it, the debtors quote the U.S. Department of Justice's announcement that it would no longer seek to dismiss joint bankruptcy cases filed by lawfully married same-sex couples anywhere in the United States.
