DHS DESIGNATES SYRIA FOR TEMPORARY PROTECTED STATUS

On Thursday, March 29th, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security designated nationals of Syria eligible for Temporary Protected Status (TPS). The TPS registration period for eligible nationals of Syria began March 29, 2012, and will end September 25, 2012. All qualifying Syrians, those residing and present in the United States since March 29, 2012, are eligible to remain in the United States and to obtain employment authorization. The registration process will vary slightly depending on one’s age and whether the individual is applying for employment authorization.
