Dr. Leroy Gardner Asbestos Research Letters

Letters sent by Dr. Leroy Gardner to Dr. Ludwig Hektoen, Chairman of the Committee on Cancer Research for the National Cancer Society, concerning research on the effects of asbestos exposure on laboratory mice. The research found that laboratory mice that were exposed to asbestos showed a dramatic increase in rates of pulmonary cancer. The letters also suggest a link between asbestosis and pulmonary cancer in workers who are exposed to asbestos and cites the risk of pulmonary diseases faced by U.S. Navy veterans who are exposed to asbestos in ships or dockyards.
