Varying legislation is being proposed. Negotiations are underway regarding whether a “clean” bill, one that does not have other immigration provisions besides making DACA permanent can be passed. If not, a DACA fix is at risk depending on what provisions are added, such as border security, mandatory E-Verify, or other immigration reforms.
We recommend urging support or co-sponsorship of the Dream Act of 2017, which is a clean bill and would address the issue without adding extraneous burdens to passage.
