Crossing a street at night can be a dangerous action to undertake, especially in areas that are not well-lit. Tragically, a woman paid the ultimate price for taking this action last week as she was hit and killed in a Modesto pedestrian accident. To make matters worse, the driver fled the scene after the crash, turning this situation into a hit-and-run investigation.
According to police, the latest fatal Modesto pedestrian accident occurred last Tuesday at approximately 10:30 p.m. when 59-year-old Lorna Jean Holbrook was attempting to cross Yosemite Boulevard in east Modesto about 600 yards east of Riverside Drive. As she was crossing, she was struck by what’s believed to be a large pickup truck that’s dark in color. She was found dead at the scene and the driver has not yet been found.
