Edith G. Osman, a shareholder of the law firm of Carlton Fields, recently received the Junior League of Miami’s “Women Who Make a Difference” award.

Osman was recognized with the three other honorees at the Junior League’s annual “Luncheon with the Stars,” held at the Four Seasons Hotel. The award honors women who have made a significant impact on the areas of women and children through their volunteerism.

“I am most honored and humbled to be recognized by the Junior League of Miami, an organization filled with caring members who each give so much back to the community,” said Osman.

The luncheon included a silent auction, the proceeds of which will go to benefit projects and programs of the Junior League, including the Miami Lighthouse for the Blind, the Sundari Foundation’s Lotus House women’s shelter, WINGS (Women in Need of Greater Strength for Life) of South Florida, and YMCA reading center preschool.

Osman’s contributions to the community are too innumerable to list. Highlights of her contributions include being elected the second female president of The Florida Bar, the current president of the Florida Supreme Court Historical Society; current member of the House of Delegates of the American Bar Association; a member of the Executive Committee of the Anti-Defamation League; Vice President of the First Family Law Inn of Court; member of the ABA Commission on the Status of Women in the Profession; Board of Directors of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce; past state-wide president and the Miami-Dade chapter president of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers, and past chair of The Florida Bar’s Standing Committee on the Legal Needs of Children. She chairs Carlton Fields’ Family Law Practice Group and is also a Supreme Court Certified Civil and Family Law Mediator. Osman practices in the areas of matrimonial law, commercial litigation, and mediation. She received her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law.
