• Two killed in a workplace shooting in California. According to media reports, an employee at a cement plant in Cupertino showed up at work this morning armed with an assault rifle and started shooting. The details are sketchy and the story is still developing, but so far two workers are dead, four are seriously injured and the suspect-shooter is still on the loose...

• Wall Street protesters file lawsuit. Nineteen days ago, protesters began camping out and marching on and near Wall Street, voicing their concerns and displeasure on a myriad of things, from the down economy to the lack of jobs. Late last week, over 700 protesters were arrested, and several of them just filed a lawsuit against New York City and the City's mayor and police commissioner....

• Drunken driving is down, but getting drunk isn't. A new study just released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows a 30 percent decrease in drunken driving incidents over the past five years, and incidents last year were the lowest in almost 20 years. The report is based on an anonymous telephone survey where 210,000 people were asked if, and how often, they've driven while intoxicated....

• Parents lose custody of their children over a hospital's mistake? When Jamel Billups and Jacqueline Rosario's four-month-old daughter suffered a stroke and showed signs of rickets, she was taken to Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. According to their federal lawsuit, once there, doctors and the Center's Child Safety Team blamed the child's condition on child abuse. The result: Billups went to jail for over a year and the daughter and her two-year-old brother were removed from the parents' home and placed in foster care...
