The EU has implemented a range of measures to promote the sustainability and competitiveness of the battery value chain.

Batteries play a crucial role across key sectors of the global economy and society, helping to mobilise and scale intermittent renewable energy sources such as wind and solar. Given the strategic importance of batteries in realising the European Green Deal Industrial Plan, the EU has implemented a range of measures and proposed amendments to existing legislation in order to promote the sustainability and competitiveness of the battery value chain.
