The IoT era is here. With expectations of tens of billions of IoT devices coming online in the next few years, the data privacy and security concerns are growing almost as quickly. IoT devices are expected to be involved in every facet of our lives, our society, and our economy. IoT devices, such as wearables, sensors, vehicle trackers, home controllers, security systems, and energy management devices, pose information security and privacy issues on a massive scale.

Join us as we discuss some of these key issues surrounding IoT and what you can do to address them.

Topics to be covered:

  • Why are IoT device companies being sued for security or privacy? What kinds of suits have been filed and are gaining traction? What laws and regulations are relevant?
  •  Security–and–Privacy by design. We'll discuss FTC guidance and how you can develop appropriate design practices.
  • Ongoing security corrections for devices. Even with Security–by–Design, you may need to update your devices out in the wild.
  • Getting consent for terms of service and privacy policies. We'll address the terms you should consider including in your TOS, and consumers' privacy expectations in the IoT era.
