Back in November 2004, Kenosha, Wisconsin police officers shot and killed Michael E. Bell during a traffic stop. His father, Michael M. Bell, received a $1.75 million settlement in a civil rights lawsuit alleging that the police officers used excessive force in killing his son. Despite the settlement, the police officers involved in shooting Michael E. Bell were not charged or disciplined for the incident. As a result, Michael M. Bell has used his settlement monies to start a billboard campaign demanding accountability for police misconduct. Following the tragic death of Derek Williams in Milwaukee Police Department custody, Michael M. Bell has also placed billboards in the Milwaukee area. Now, Michael M. Bell is requesting a federal investigation into the death of his son, as well as other instances of police misconduct in Wisconsin. Read about the efforts of Michael M. Bell in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel here.
