The U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit recently vacated an air permit issued by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for the construction of a new compressor station proposed by Algonquin Gas Transmission as part of its Atlantic Bridge natural gas pipeline project. Vacating the permit halts construction of the new compressor station, a necessary component of the Atlantic Bridge project, which is expected to move gas from the Boston area up the coast to New Hampshire, Maine, and New Brunswick in order to address natural gas supply issues.
