A former Anne Arundel County police lieutenant was sentenced to five years in federal prison this week after pleading guilty to a charge of receiving child pornography, according to his Maryland criminal attorney. Forty-seven-year-old James Cifala of Edgewater exchanged over a thousand text and image messages of a sexual nature with the teenage victim, and was alleged to have had sexual relations with her in his truck and in a vacant house during a three month period in 2009. Cifala met the victim when she was fourteen-years-old, and maintained contact with her via pre-paid cell phones and social networks over the next two years.
