Nigeria: NNPC closes deal to develop seven gas projects

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) closed a deal with Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), Seplat Petroleum Development Company Plc, Oando Plc and other partners for the execution of seven gas projects.

The gas projects worth US$3.7 billion are meant to bridge the gas supply shortfall in the domestic market.

Nigeria: Cabinet approves contract for the construction of a gas pipeline

Nigeria's Minister of Information Lai Mohammed has disclosed that cabinet has approved a contract for consultancy service for the construction of a gas pipeline at the cost of US$92 million. 

Mohammed said the council approved a memo by the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, for a revised estimate total cost for the engineering, procurement and construction of the OB3 gas pipeline project.

Regional development bank commits to Tanzania’s gas power plant

East African regional development financial institution, TRADE & Development Bank (TDB), has committed a US$200 million soft loan to the Tanzanian government for construction of a gas power plant in Kilwa District, Lindi Region.

Energy Minister Dr Medard Kalemani said the Kilwa gas plant is designed to generate 318 MW and that it will increase availability of power in the country.

Nigeria joins race to meet booming demand for LNG with new plant 

Nigeria LNG is taking its first step to increase liquefied natural gas output by more than a third, after years contemplating an expansion to keep up with the world’s major producers.

The producer has signed front-end engineering and design contracts for a seventh facility with joint ventures that include Saipem, TechnipFMC and Chiyoda.

Train 7 would cost US$6.5 billion to build, with another US$5 billion to be spent on upstream gas supply.
