H-1B Visa Numbers Hint at Economic Upswing


As of November 14, a total of 56,300 H-1B visa applications had been filed by employers on behalf of professional workers and those in “specialty occupations” that qualify for H-1B status.

At this rate, the quota of 65,000 is likely to be reached by the start of 2012, if not sooner. If reached by some time in December, that would be nearly two months ahead of last year’s pace, suggesting that employers are picking up the pace on professional hiring.
