Hackers Dubbed ‘Ghoul’ Targeting Industrial Businesses across the Globe

Researchers at Kapersky Labs say they have uncovered an industrial hacking scheme that they have dubbed “Operation Ghoul” that has hit 130 organizations in 30 countries. Kapersky says Operation Ghoul targets bank accounts and intellectual property of small to medium-sized industrial businesses using an off-the-shelf, commercial malware program known as Hawkeye that is capable of recording keystrokes, monitoring browser and email data, and stealing FTP server credentials.
