Hawaii routinely requires tax clearances to be submitted to obtain license renewals and to do business as a vendor with the State and its subsidiary entities. A tax clearance demonstrates that the indivdual or entity has filed required tax returns and paid (or made arrangements to pay) taxes due and owing.
Hawaii has now authorized the Department of Taxation to impose a $20 fee on tax clearance applications and an additional $5 for every certified copy.
