Ford Acquires Journey Holding Corp and Quantum Signal
Journey Holding Corp is considered one of the largest intelligent-transportation system providers in North America and provides a portfolio of technology offerings among more than 700 locations. Quantum Signal has developed software that can remotely control robotic vehicles from thousands of miles away, and it has built a robust simulation environment capable of testing autonomous vehicle designs. Going forward, both technologies will be incorporated into Ford Smart Mobility.

Congress Looks to Revive Driverless Vehicle Bills
The House Energy and Commerce Committee and Senate Commerce Committee have reportedly sent automakers a request for input on a “bipartisan and bicameral basis to develop a self-driving car bill.” Congress seeks input on a variety of issues related to autonomous vehicles, including testing, privacy, disability access, cybersecurity, consumer education and crash data.

Mercedes Reveals First Autonomous Valet Parking System in Germany
German authorities have granted approval for a fully automated valet parking system at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart. The system is operated via a smartphone app; drivers exit their vehicles and activate the app so their vehicle can park themselves.
