This is an easy "How To" on filing a claim against a Washington contractor's bond. Washington contractors are obligated to register with the State Department of Labor & Industries and maintain a statutory bond (RCW 18.27.040). The bond may be $6,000 or $12,000, depending on the type of contractor. Contractors may also carry additional private bonds to cover their work.

Other contractors, suppliers, and project owners may need to recover the value of the bond in order to compensate themselves for damages caused by a contractor's work or failure to pay an account. This article shows you how.
