In August of this year, Nathan and Kelly Thompson were enjoying a carriage ride in Central Park when a truck spooked their horse and it bolted, breaking free from the carriage and tipping it over. The Australian couple and their driver were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

New York City is one of the most popular tourist spots in the world, with year-round sightseeing and entertainment frequented by an average 47 million American and foreign tourists every year. It unfortunately is also the site of numerous accidents, such as:

  • Car crashes
  • Slip and falls (i.e., in department stores and outside, particularly in bad weather)
  • Accidents in construction zones
  • Sightseeing bus injuries
  • Insect bites in hotels
  • Injuries from falling debris and tree limbs
  • Food poisoning in restaurants
  • The occasional runaway horse

If you are injured while touring our magnificent city, remember that just because you don’t live here doesn’t mean you lose your rights. Although many people are accustomed to meeting with their lawyer in person, modern technology now makes it easy to do most anything over the internet.

The New York courts now accept telephone and video appearances, including videotaped depositions and trial testimony, especially in cases involving financial hardship.  Our firm is set up to review documents with you online, communicate face-to-face through video conferencing, scan documents so that you can review them right away, and more.  And don’t worry — we can still do old-fashioned things like sending out paperwork in the mail if that’s your preference.

The key is to contact our office as soon as possible. Our firm handles many long distance claims without any difficulty and you can rest assured that everything is being taken care of while you enjoy the comfort of your own home, though we hope you come back to visit us again soon.
