New Massachusetts Uniform Trust Code

On July 8, 2012, Governor Deval Patrick signed legislation that creates the Massachusetts Uniform Trust Code (“MUTC”). The MUTC expands trustee powers and obligations with regard to trust administration, modification and termination. It replaces Article VII of the Massachusetts Uniform Probate Code (“MUPC”). The MUTC is effective immediately.

The attorneys in the Probate, Trust and Personal Planning practice group at Partridge Snow & Hahn LLP are available to answer any questions you or your colleagues may have about this new legislative development.
