New Massachusetts Uniform Trust Code


On July 8, 2012, Governor Deval Patrick signed legislation that creates the Massachusetts Uniform Trust Code (“MUTC”). The MUTC expands trustee powers and obligations with regard to trust administration, modification and termination. It replaces Article VII of the Massachusetts Uniform Probate Code (“MUPC”). The MUTC is effective immediately.
