A Kernersville mother wants to tattoo angel wings on her 2 year old daughter (named Angel) because “she is her gift from God.” The mother believes that she should be able to make any and all decisions regarding her child and everyone else needs to stay out of her business when it comes to parenting her child.
The law in North Carolina is clear: it is a class 2 misdemeanor to tattoo anyone under the age of 18. If this woman does tattoo her 2 year old daughter, not only will it likely bring about the misdemeanor charge on herself as well as the tattoo artist who does the tattoo, but she will likely be charged with some child abuse related charges. She could possibly be charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor as well. Although many believe the child should be removed from the home, it is unlikely that Child Protective Services would do that.
