  • Massachusetts AG Andrea Joy Campbell filed a lawsuit against Holtec Decommissioning International LLC and Holtec Pilgrim LLC (collectively, “Holtec”) alleging that Holtec violated the state’s Air Act and related regulations by mishandling demolition debris during the decommissioning of the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station.
  • In the complaint, AG Campbell alleges that Holtec failed to remove asbestos-containing material and asbestos-containing waste material before beginning demolition work and transported such materials in open-top dumpsters, causing air pollution and risking harm to workers and the environment, among other things.
  • The lawsuit seeks civil penalties of $25,000 per day of Holtec’s alleged violations and a permanent injunction requiring future compliance with the Air Act and related regulations.
