In a rare move, especially in August, the Michigan Supreme Court issued several orders (one of which relates to this case) today granting oral arguments for tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. on applications challenging Court of Appeals decisions concerning efforts to place proposed changes to the Michigan Constitution on the November 2012 General Election ballot.
Although the issues are diverse and unique, this cases addresses efforts by labor unions to have provisions of the Constitution changed to protect bargaining and negotiation as a "constitutional right", among other provisions. You can read the Court of Appeals opinion below, which was issued on Monday, August 27.
This will obviously be publicized and may be televised on Michigan Government Television, but it is after 1:00 p.m. so I do not know if they will air it live.
