Nevada Appoints Acting Insurance Commissioner

On July 7, 2015, Amy L. Parks was appointed as Acting Nevada Insurance Commissioner following Scott J. Kipper’s resignation.

Parks has eleven years with the Division and this will be her second term serving as Acting Commissioner. Parks has served as Chief Insurance Counsel and Hearing Officer for the Nevada Division of Insurance since 2009, and Insurance Counsel and Hearing Officer for the Division since August 2004.

Acting Commissioner Parks graduated from University of Nevada, Reno with a Bachelor of Science degree in Laboratory Medicine in 1980 and in December of 1995, she earned her Juris Doctor degree from Northwestern School of Law at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. While attending Lewis & Clark College, Parks won the Outstanding Oral Advocate in Appellate Moot Court competition, and received the American Jurisprudence Award in Insurance Law.
