DC Capitol_formattedIt’s official:  The federal government is creating the Cyber Threat Intelligence Integration Center (CTIIC), a new agency to monitor cybersecurity threats.  The agency will be modeled after the National Counterterrorism Center, which was launched after the September 11th attacks.  CTIIC’s mandate will be to connect the commonalities between various nationwide cyber threats and to integrate, compile, and analyze data and information from all sources.  Until now, no single agency has been tasked with such a responsibility.  Though opponents have raised concerns about privacy and liability for disclosure of private information, the recent attacks on major U.S. corporations, health care providers and insurers, and the White House have made this an area of Presidential concern.  The official announcement is expected from the White House today.
