Following up on the recent New York State Executive Order No. 202.61, on September 18, 2020, the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene issued an alert advising providers that all point-of-care (POC) COVID-19 test results must be reported electronically via the New York State Electronic Clinical Laboratory Reporting System (ECLRS).

All laboratories and facilities that perform POC testing for SARS-CoV-2, including urgent care centers, medical offices, hospitals, nursing homes, pharmacies, and clinics, must report all test results (i.e., positive, negative, indeterminate) within three hours of receipt via ECLRS. POC tests for SARS-CoV-2 include nucleic acid amplification tests, antigen tests, and serologic (antibody) tests. Providers who do not currently have access to ECLRS should continue to report test results to the NYC Health Department’s online portal, and if unable to use the online portal, via facsimile, until ECLRS reporting is established. Providers should contact eclrs@health.ny.gov, nyceclrs@health.nyc.gov or the ECLRS Help Desk (866-325-7743) for more information to set up ECLRS.

The Alert also reminds providers that when they perform any SARS-CoV-2 testing, they must obtain the individual’s place of employment and local address, and the individual’s school information if the individual attends, works, or volunteers in a school.
