House Appropriations Subcommittees
All of the subcommittees met on Thursday, May 12, and each revealed budget recommendations for the various departments. The full House budget is expected to be publicly available on Monday for review. The House Appropriations Committee is scheduled to meet on Tuesday to take up the budget for consideration. May 20 continues to be the target for the House to pass its budget. Once the House passes the budget, the Senate will begin its budget process. After the Senate passes its version of the budget, the House and Senate will form a conference committee to help negotiate a final agreement for the state budget.
Senate Education Committee
The Committee met on Wednesday, May 11 to take up HB 474, Exclude Year-Round Track Out Program/Child. A proposed committee substitute was adopted changing the content of the original bill. The new language adds an exception from the definition of child care for track out programs provided to school-age children when they are out of school on a year-round school calendar.
