The New York Power Authority (NYPA) recently issued a request for qualifications (RFQ) to prospective renewable energy companies interested in collaborating with New York Power Authority (NYPA) to develop renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, energy storage, geothermal, green hydrogen and renewable transmission.

The RFQ follows a request for information (RFI) that was issued in January 2024, seeking feedback from renewable developers, contractors and other interested stakeholders on potential development opportunities. Responses to the RFI were provided in February. The RFQ is the next step in the process before NYPA issues requests for proposals, which are expected later this year.

Renewable developers interested in working with NYPA must provide detailed information on their experience and qualifications. NYPA will then evaluate and issue five-year pre-qualification status to developers with the technical capabilities and expertise necessary to partner on future renewable energy projects.

Responses to the RFQ must be submitted by April 9, 2024, and NYPA will confirm whether developers are prequalified by the end of May.
