OCR and ONC Release Model Notices of Privacy Practices

The long-awaited Omnibus Regulations (Omnibus Rule) adopted earlier this year by the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) requires covered entities to include new information in their Notice of Privacy Practices (NPP) by September 23, 2013.

Several days ago, OCR and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology released NPP models that reflect the regulatory changes of the Omnibus Rule. These models can serve as the baseline for covered entities working to come into compliance with the new NPP requirements.
