Higher Education CLE Webinar Series | Presented by Bricker & Eckler and the Southern Illinois University School of Law
Join us for a free webinar series in the month of June on important topics in higher education.
Each webinar is presented by legal practitioners who regularly work with colleges and universities on the topics of Data Privacy, Title IX, the Family Education Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and Name, Image & Likeness (NIL).
These courses have been submitted to the Minimum Continuing Legal Education Board of the Supreme Court of Illinois for 1.0 total CLE hours of instruction per course. Approval is pending.
Student Confidentiality Laws in Higher Education
FERPA is the federal law that governs student privacy, but the confidentiality it creates also underpins an educational institution’s relationship with its students. Join Bricker attorneys Jessica Galanos and Melissa Carleton to discuss when FERPA permits or prohibits the release of personally identifiable information from student records, and how FERPA applies in the context of discovery and public records requests.
At Bricker, we strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals, including individuals with disabilities, to engage fully. To request an accommodation or for inquiries about accessibility, please contact Laura Schaller at lschaller@bricker.com
