U.S. District Judge Nancy Atlas granted dismissal of a lawsuit filed by a former General Electric Co. executive under a federal whistle blowing statute. The court held that the anti-retaliation clauses of the Dodd-Frank Act’s whistleblower provisions don’t cover claims made abroad.

Judge Atlas cited the Supreme Court’s decision in Morrison v. National Australia Bank, Ltd., for dismissing the lawsuit holding that Morrison“reaffirmed the ‘longstanding principle’ that Congress’ legislation doesn’t apply outside the United States ‘unless a contrary intent appears.’”
