Massachusetts obtained a $3 million grant to study "alternatives" to a consumer's 7th Amendment right to a jury trial when it comes medical malpractice claims. The grant is part of a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services program to investigate ways to improve compensation for people injured by medical errors and has a secondarily identified goal of lowering malpractice premiums.
