As we gear up for the second annual P3 Hub South conference, needless to say, we are all very excited to explore the future of the region’s P3 industry. Following the conference’s tremendous success in 2015 and a fruitful year with the South of the U.S. proving to be one of the largest areas of P3 growth in the country, P3 Bulletin, in partnership with Bilzin Sumberg, is returning to Miami. The conference is right around the corner, beginning on Tuesday, February 16, with a series of roundtable discussions chaired by Bilzin Sumberg Land Development and Government Relations Practice Group Leader, Albert E. Dotson Jr., followed by a full day conference on Wednesday, January 17, at the Conrad Hotel.

This year’s P3 Hub South conference hosts both local and national leaders in the P3 industry who will participate in roundtable, panel, and informal networking discussions. Local leaders will share their views on P3 opportunities, challenges, and personal experiences in South Florida’s P3 environment. Additional industry leaders will address the differences between P3s in the southern United States and the rest of the country, with discussions on how to change the political landscape in Florida so that P3s can become a more friendly option for local governments.

National P3 industry leaders will also share insights on topics such as the changing face of infrastructure design and the general infrastructure deficit across the country, opportunities for partnership in the southern region, and why P3 centers are so important for lasting P3 success.

The conference features several panels on a variety topics including “The Miami Panel” addressing local P3 issues, “The New Frontier – Telecommunications and Broadband P3s Panel” addressing the wide range of social, water, roadway, and transit projects over the past 12 months, and the “Political Landscape in the South Panel” featuring a conversation on improving infrastructure through P3s in the South. In addition to the informative panel discussions, there are social and networking events planned including a poolside dinner at the Conrad hotel and “Speed Networking with the Public Sector.”

Following its two-day role as host to the P3 Hub South Conference, we have no doubt that South Florida will be ready to welcome a surge of P3 activity in the months and years ahead.
