Alexis Wright has been charged with 109 counts of prostitution, violation of privacy, tax evasion and other charges for allegedly providing sex for money at her Kennebunk fitness studio and office. Police plan to release more than 100 names little by little over the next several weeks. The warning has set off a flurry of rumors among residents who say they’ve heard the list might include lawyers, doctors, law enforcement officials and a television personality. (AP Photo/Joel Page)

Police have released 21 names from a list of over a hundred clients of a Maine woman who was allegedly running a prostitution business out of her Zumba studio. According to attorneys, the list includes local doctors, attorneys and mayors who visited Alexis Wright’s dance studio in Kennebunk to indulge in the horizontal polka.

Since the town is next to presidential vacation spot Kennebunkport, attorneys made sure to clarify that no members of the Bush family were included on the john list. More names are likely to be released in upcoming weeks as more of the area’s men are charged for engaging in prostitution.

The john list is being released with no identifying information other than names since the men involved are considered victims as well as suspects: They were videotaped apparently without their consent.

Dance instructor Wright, 29, has been charged with 106 counts of prostitution, as well as tax evasion and privacy violations, since she filmed many of the licentious encounters. Her former business partner, Mark Strong Sr., 57, was also charged with a number of offenses. Both defendants have denied the charges despite over 100 hours of video evidence and 14,000 screenshots confiscated by police.

Wright had apparently drawn attention to herself with videos posted online of some of her encounters, as well as solo acts. One profile at a pornographic site that has been attributed to the Zumba madam by other media outlets read, “I have had sex with many of the married men locally and it is satisfying to know that I am providing them with what they are not getting at home. If the women only knew …”

Police took interest after an anonymous online blog questioned Wright’s business, and they noticed men visiting the studio at all hours of the night for a half hour at a time. Others who rented space near her office told police of hearing “moaning and groaning” coming from the studio.

Elsewhere on the Internet, anonymous johns have been complaining that law enforcement outed the identities of their peers in Maine.
