The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) has opened up a public comment process on its proposed regulations to set maximum contaminant levels (MCLs) for two PFAS substances, PFOA and PFOS, in drinking water. As we’ve discussed here, the proposed rule would set enforceable regulatory levels in Pennsylvania drinking water sources at 14 parts per trillion (ppt) for PFOA and 18 ppt for PFOS.

The public comment period will run through April 27, 2022. In addition, PA DEP has scheduled five virtual public hearings, to be held each day during the week of March 21, 2022, at which interested persons can present testimony.
