In a growing nationwide crisis, health care providers are struggling with an acute shortage of physicians. Industry reports show that the demand for doctors will continue to outpace supply, leading to a projected shortfall of between 46,100 and 90,400 doctors by 2025.

Foreign-trained doctors play a critical role in filling this gap. According to a recent report by the American Immigration Council, more than 247,000 doctors with medical degrees from foreign countries practice in the United States. Given that volume, it’s clear that immigration policies have an impact on the ability of doctors to relocate to and practice in the United States.
