This May 29, 2014 article in the Los Angeles Times illustrates the growing trend of violent crimes centered on operating marijuana dispensaries. With the potential for large amounts of cash on hand and high street prices for “quality” product, even dispensaries completely in compliance with the law may not be able to avoid being targeted by criminals. And that says nothing about the impact on the community where the dispensary operates. No credible discussion on the legal status of marijuana can exclude the sobering reality that violent crime seems to be following right along.
